Week 5, 5 and 3/4 & 6 HW October 3/4,17/18 & 24/25

How do you eat an elephant?

One bite at a time. This is how we get better at math (and everything else). We work at it piece by piece, bit by bit, problem by problem, day by day. Your daily effort will yield great results!

    • Problem 1.26 use your addition super powers to solve this quickly without a calculator: What is the value of 268 + 1375 +6179 -168 -1275 -6079

  11. Correct your own work and redo missed problems.

(You book marked “selected answers” in week 0. You’re usually looking at the selected answers for Practice Problems.) Remember to:

  • Mark correct problems with a little colored dot so you and I know that you have checked them against the answer.

  • Mark problems you missed with slash in color.

  • Redo the problem in the right-hand column and check your work again.

  • If you still don’t get it, make a note of that problem so we can review these

  • Then use the HW self-assessment form (see button up top) to self-assess your work.

Week 5 and 3/4 - 10/17 & 10/18

Since classes were cancelled due to instructor illness for the week of 10/17, we have some review work to prepare you for coming chapter tests.

Quizzes and Tests Schedule

***Week 6 Chp 1 Quiz — in class***

Week 7 Chp 2 Quiz

Week 8 - Chp 1-3 Cumulative Test

Week 10 - Chp 5 Quiz (Fractions)

Week 11 - Chp 4 (Exponents, Factoring)

Week 12 - Practice Final chp 1-5

Week 14 - Final Exam Chp 1-5 (possibly part of chp 6)

  1. Chp 1 and Chp 2 PRACTICE Tests with answers in maroon adjacent to the problems on each test :)

    • Do the EVEN problems.

    • You’ll need to write the problem on a separate piece of paper and show your steps. You do NOT need to copy the instructions or all of a word problem. For word problems, simply write down the key facts and what is being asked.

    • If you get a problem wrong, redo it until you can get it correct!

  2. Optional: get a head start on week 6 homework.
