Week 21 - March 20/21 No HW over spring break.

We’ll have homework on April 10th.

April 10 Make-up Day HW

(we’ll call this our delayed week 21 HW)

Spring Quizzes and Tests Schedule

Wk 21 Chp 6 Test (this week at home)

Wk 22 Chp 8 Mid-chp Quiz

Wk 25 Chp 8 Test

HW is complete

Classwork Concepts: lines of symmetry, geometry transformations (reflections, translations, rotations, dilations). Angle relationships (supplemental, complimentary, vertical, corresponding interior angles, corresponding exterior angles). Triangle angle sums problems. Inequalities with division and multiplication by a negative means reverse the inequality sign!!

April 10, due April 16

PDF HW checklist is here.

STARTING this week STUDENTS WILL TAKE THEIR MULTIPLICATION QUIZ AT HOME. Use the button above to show your parents where to print out a quiz for you.

Chp 6 Test will be a PRACTICE TEST taken at home this week and due first day of class next week.

This is NOT a test grade. This is a hard chapter so I want to see which sections we should re-teach this coming week before the real test. Real test will probably be in class next week on Wednesday after we reteach challenging sections and it will be much shorter.

PRACTICE Test is page 322. #1, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16-19, 22, 23. Here’s copy for you to put your answers on. Show your work on another page. Unlimited time; closed book but open 4x6” notecard & IMPS. This is a chance for you to see how good your test notecard and IMPS are. When you’re done you can check your answers here.

The rest of this homework listed below will be combined with Week 22 HW. Start it now, but you don’t have to finish it all.

HW Part 1 of 3

McD 8.7 Function Notation day 1 of 4

BONUS PENTAGON McD 8.6 Line of best fit THIS SECTION IS HARDER ALGEBRA SO IT IS PENTAGON WORK

HW Part 2 of 3

McD CHP 10.3 AREA of Parallelograms & Trapezoids - Day 1 of HW on this material

McD Chp 10.4 Circumference & Area of Circles Day 2 on these concepts

  • Do GP 1-5 odds, 6,19, 35-39 odds (even answers #6 part 1: 114 m², part 2: 64 m² part 3: 80 m²)

HW Part 3 of 3

McD 8.4 Slope of a Line (Day 3 of 4 of HW on this material)

Do pg. 405 PP# 8, 10, 18-21 all, 25-29 odds ,49, 51, PENTAGON #37 POST EVEN ANSWERS

McD 8.5 y= mx +b Slope-intercept form (Day 2 of HW on this material)

  • It’s so much easier to visualize a line when its equation looks like this y = mx + b. This is slope-intercept form. Transform an equation that looks like this 4x +3y = -18 into y = mx+ b slope intercept form by solving for y so you get y = (-4/3)x - 6.

  • Re-read the examples for this section. Optional video reviewby Org. Chem tutot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXX47hS2KLw

  • DO pg. 416-7 PP# 15-19, 23-27 odds, 39, 41 SQUARE #21

  • Go to our Desmos classroom and do the activity assigned called “Marbleslide: Lines”

Review a real-world inequality problem with this Magic of Math short. Can you do the problem before the teacher does?

Chp 7.1- 4 - Do the Mid-Chp Quiz odds. SQUARE PROBLEM FOR BONUS POINTS IS #22 Then create a 3x 5 notecard of formulas and example problems to help you on a future test of this material

Chp 7.5 - Day 2 pg. 352-6 check pt 1, 3, 4, GP# 2,4,6 POST EVEN ANSWERS. Optional video help below

Percent of Change (McD 7.5 or 7.6) WATCH this Math Antics Percent Change video

Percent Increase or Decrease Art of Problem Solving Percent Change or Increase or Decrease video part 1

PREVIEW of Direct Variation y=kx chp 8.6

Pretend this is y - mx + b. What is missing? The b. So the y intercept is always 0. This is straight line through the origin. The only thing that changes is its steepness and direction, i.e. slope. This is briefly in pre-algebra chp 8 and re-appears again in Math 8 chp 8.5, Algebra 1 chp 8.9. We also did this in Math 7 (chp 5)

Correct work, redo missed problems as usual. Highlight problems on your HW sheet which you want to review in class. Get your multiplication study sheet signed.

Week 22 HW April 16

Spring Quizzes and Tests Schedule

Wk 22 Chp 6 Test

Wk 24 Chp 6-7 Test

Concepts for Intro to Algebra:

Almost done with chp 7 (percents) and chp 8 (linear Equations)

Week 22— April 16

HW Checklist is here. Support Videos are listed below.

Chp 6 Test - The real deal on Wednesday.

HW Part 1 of 4

Chp 8 Mid-Chp Practice Quiz - open HW and notes. I’m not going to give you a grade on this. Just take it as a pretend quiz to see how you do. pg 418 Do #1, 3, 7, 9, 11 PENTAGON 15

McD 8.6 Direct Variation (Day 3 OF 4)

  • SQUARE BONUS Go to our Desmos classroom (button above) and do the Lego Prices activity (this will take about 15-25 minutes)

  • Direct Variation: Take notes on direct variation. Direct variation is when x varies directly with y. The graph of y=kx is a straight line passing through the origin since there is no y intercept (no b in the equation y=mx +b, it’s just y=kx with k standing in for slope or the constant of variation.) Prof Rob Bob https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ps_YRWPdkfk&list=PLGbL7EvScmU7ZqJW4HumYdDYv12Wt3yOk&index=40 (Remember to take notes and after he does one problem, pause the video and do the other problems with him.)

  • Do pg. 423: #23, 24, 26, 27, 29, 31

HW Part 2 of 4

Review Geometry - Angle Relationships: Watch and take notes on these videos on

Special Angles (Supplementary & Complementary) with Mr. J

Vertical and Adjacent Angles from Magic of Math then use what you learned to do the problems in this video from Mashup Math

BONUS SQUARE WORK: Watch this video on dilations of shapes and take notes (this is Math 8/Geometry work)

McD 8.8 Graphing Systems of equations using a graphing calculator like Desmos

SELECT A FEW PROBLEMS TO DO Using DESMOS from this section of McD

McD 7.5 Percent of Change - find the original amount (Day 3 of 6)

Do pg. 355: # 17, 19, 21, 23, These are different problems. The percent of increase or decrease is known. We want to find the NEW amount after the original has been increased or decreased. (Similar to in class problems: what does Remy charge for her alpaca beanies if she buys them for $6 and has a mark-up (percent increase) of 150% to cover her shipping costs? 6 + (6 x 150%) = 6 +9 = $15 is her new price (called a retail price)

If you need videos to help with this, here are some options
